Number Two apron pattern is no longer just a drawing on paper! Here she is, in her first workup. Number Two features all the fifties' flair imaginable, with a ruffled hem, two pockets with cloth-covered button details, a gathered waistband, and some optional bodice bows. For a perfect fit, Number Two offers a curved seam bodice and skirt, which lend it its retro vibe. Fully lined, Number Two has no exposed seams and will last long enough for your great-granddaughter to put it to good use. The only thing Number Two doesn't have is a name!
That's where you come in! Help me give Number Two a name she can be proud of! Leave a comment, and in a week's time I will pick the name that most tickles my fancy. Keep in mind that I like the idea of old-fashioned women's names for my aprons (i.e. Emmeline) but I'm open to other possibilities as well. The winner will receive a copy of The Apron Book by EllynAnne Geisel!
After the naming, all that's left is writing the instructions, drafting the pattern pieces in Illustrator, laying out everything in InDesign, sending the draft out to testers, revising, re-sending, and printing. Nothing at all, really! But this naming contest should be so much fun. Maybe I'll even get some ideas for naming my future children, as well. :)
Happy naming!
Meg

Fun! What a gorgeous apron. Can we leave more than one name?
ReplyDeleteWhat about Catherine? (aka Kitty, of course)
Or Elizabeth?
Those two stick out at me, but of course they are family names, too, so that may be why they were what I thought of when looking at the apron- though Catherine seems just right to me.
:)
The Annabelle or The Isabelle - sorry, had to give two names.. those are my fav. girl names from the past!
ReplyDeleteI love Lucy, or Lucille. Cute apron!
ReplyDeleteRight now I am on a big "Ruby" kick -- if I had a daughter, that is what I would name her. So how about Ruby? Or really, doesn't Great Aunt Ruby sound better?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say "Olive" in honor of my grandmother, who LOVES ladybugs! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm thinking it should be named after my grandmother, Rosalyn. It just looks like one she would have worn if she saw it. She's actually called 'Bootsie', but I was thinking her real name for the apron.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an Adair. Aunt Ellie Adair Martin. I love the apron!
ReplyDeleteFor me it's definitely a Delilah. Feminine.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I am reminded of both June Cleaver and my great-grandmother Hazel when I see that gorgeous apron! I guess that makes my votes June and Hazel...
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness! That is adorable! I'm envisioning it in a polka dot. How about Sophia or Grace?
ReplyDeleteOkay - more than one? Please?
ReplyDeleteEvalyn or Georgene.
I want those names for my future daughters. Beautiful women.
Betsy. Definitely Betsy.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Hmmm so many great names
ReplyDeletethe Nellie, or the Estelle
Great apron
How about the Vivian? And those ladybugs are too cute.
ReplyDeleteHerbalTonya I agree that Nellie is a perfect name! I WAS going to suggest Nellie-May after my grandmother, but my great grandmother was Flossie Gertrude, which is also fabulous! My other guesses were Pearl or Edna!
ReplyDeleteThe ladybugs are just too cute. I see the apron as 'Pollyanna' or 'Marguerite'.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! How about Hattie?
ReplyDeleteI see the name Anna Rose....because it is just beautiful
ReplyDeleteHmmm, so many great names! I think I am going to go with Eloise or Penelope.
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect to read so many I like! My favorite old fashioned name is Sadie.
ReplyDeleteHOw about Delaney? That is my favorite girls name lately.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteBetty Jean, like my grandma - the only woman in my family who ever rocked an apron.
I like Dinah. The apron reminds me of a diner apron from the pie counter - so it is fun to say Dinah from the diner. Good luck everyone. Such pretty names!
ReplyDeleteMeredith or Clementine are my votes. Love the shaping and the detail on the pockets!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to name my daughter this name and did not win but I love Olive, ok I just noticed someone else did Olive so my next is Madge- love the apron!
ReplyDeleteI'm all about Dorthea for my great aunt Dot. She would totally have worn this apron back in the day and would probably still have it tucked away in a drawer with all of her other ones! It's wonderful.
ReplyDeletehow about adelaide (addy for short)? i love that name and it so suits the sweetness of your pretty concoction!
ReplyDeleteMs. Billingsley
ReplyDelete(after barbara, who played june cleaver)
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI was going to vote for Betsy or Dottie, but those have been suggested. How about the Donna? As in Reed...
ReplyDeleteella, grace, lily, hazel - i love the old names too. my daughter's are gracie and lily may.
ReplyDeleteHow about Annette? or Arlene?
ReplyDeleteor how about Diner Dress?
Picnic Special? Homade Pies?
:)
It's cute!
mmsmithatnextcentdotcom
oh so pretty - i love it! I know someone already said Dorthea so how about Evelyn
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I don't know if you've ever given them a first and a middle name, but I immediately thought of Laurie Lillian. That was my sweet, adorable little country granny's name. She was a little spitfire, and lived to be 92! The fiery red made me think of her. She had a heart of gold, but nothing kept her down! Adorable apron!
ReplyDeleteHenrietta or Josephine, Henrietta sounds like a strong, no nonsense in my kitchen type of name, a maker of a mean apple pie whereas Josephine is more romantic, i imagine she would whip up some eclairs or fancy cakes in this apron.
ReplyDeleteI like the names Eleanora, Evelyn, and Sheryl.
ReplyDeleteLuella or Cordelia? Prudence? Lovely apron!
ReplyDeleteThe moment I saw it I thought, "Betty".
ReplyDeleteI adore this one -- Emmeline is in my to-do pile (I love it!) but this one is even better (no offense, Emmeline!) and I can't wait to sew it. So...please hurry?
ReplyDeleteI have a ton of names I would like to suggest, but to not make you crazy I'm going to pick just one, my great-great-grandmother's name, Belle. I did not know her well, but she would have loved this, I think! (My grandmother also would love this, but her name is not as appropriate...) She was an Ohio farm girl who wore a ton of aprons in her lifetime.
This is such a beautiful apron!
ReplyDeleteMy pick for the name would be the Peggy-Rose
My immediate thought was Alice, because the shape reminds me of the apron she wore in the cartoon version of Alice in Wonderland.
ReplyDeleteLove the apron. My two cents...Charlotte or Georgia.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteTo go along with Emmeline, I say
Lillian Belle
If I can only submit one, I go with Lillian or Lillian Belle. but I do love Hazel as well. My daughter is Eden Hazel.
Amelia
ReplyDeleteI think Amelia would make a wonderful name for your apron. The apron reminds me of my sister-in-law.
Can't wait to buy it!
Not Nellie, Nellie makes me think Nellie Olsen from Little House on the Prairie. I do however loooove Eliose!
ReplyDelete"Adeline" seems to fit that style. :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks a Lauralei to me but that's because of the ladybugs
ReplyDeleteI just adore your creativity. Thanks for sharing.
Perhaps because Emmaline is a character in one of the Anne of Green Gables books, I immediately thought of Rilla (Marilla) when I saw this one.
ReplyDeleteI love this apron, too (I just got Emmeline in the mail on Friday and am staking out the mailbox until my fabric arrives!). How about Rose (Rosie)? Or Susie? Whatever you choose, make it something sweet and cheery!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was Susanna. But looking at the cute fabric and button, I wonder about Ladybird? A nod to the insect and the first lady. Can't you just see her tucking a telegram from Lyndon in one of those pockets? And she started Head Start for preschool children--always nice to honor someone thinking of the education and nurturing of our wee ones!
ReplyDelete-Kirstin-
So cute! I'm thinking Betty Ann for my husband's grandmother. It would suit her just fine with those cute & sassy bows.
ReplyDeleteLove the apron - just got my Emmeline pattern!
ReplyDeleteI have a couple names - (I love girl names and of course, I have 2 boys!)
Ashleigh, Millicent or Lola.
Hi...what a beautiful apron!!!
ReplyDeleteI think this should be named like my spunky, spirited 6-year old daughter who is an old soul and has lately taken to wearing aprons to school everyday as a fashion-statement.
So - how about the "Marlena" (or - middle-name - the "Annika")?
She loved ladybugs, too :-)
Why not Constance? It's serene and feminine... a lovely name!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeletereally very nice apron !
I would say Hortense, a french and beautiful name or Celeste which is my baby daughter's name !
I am the proud momma of two boys. Henry and John. If we had had a little pink...Marguerite would have been her name - after DH's sweet and wonderful grandmother. So, I'm left with making sure that our next pet is female to which I can attach the name Marguerite (nicknamed GG) to. ;-) The apron is beautiful. I'm still searching for the 'perfect' fabric for my Emmeline...
ReplyDeleteDottie...it's short for Doris. Someone mentioned that it was taken, but I checked through twice and didn't see it.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say Grace or Josephine. Grace was my mama's best friend back in the fifties..
ReplyDeleteMy grandma's name was Josephine. She was crippled by rheumatoid arthritis but it didn't stop her from trying to cook for us girls when we were young. Usually everything was good, but one time she made us rice pudding- and forgot to add the sugar!
(If you need testers, I would be happy to rev up the machine for you!!!)
Another beautiful apron! I like (as several others do) June or June-bug. Someone else mentioned this one too, but Madge is sticking in my head as well. Good luck deciding.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Dora Belle?
ReplyDeleteMy Polish great aunt was named Sofia. Or you can go with the more English spelling of Sophia.
ReplyDeleteStunning design. I love it.
This is DEFINITELY the AMELIA BEDELIA apron.
ReplyDeleteClementine...I've always loved this name and only have a boy. I'm saving it for a cat, but I think it's a perfect name for your apron. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, didn't read all the comments, so this may be a repeat, but the first thing I thought when I saw it was the "Hannah."
ReplyDeleteLoved Emmeline. Can't wait to see this one!
I am not so patiently waiting for my Emmaline to arrive. And now you come up with another beauty!
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest Penelope, but I saw it was already suggested. So how about Minnie Etta after my grandmother? You could combine it into Minnietta.
carolyn
Eleanor (Ellie?) or Harriet
ReplyDeleteI love the apron, especially the pockets.
Mary Ann. (That's my aunt!) Lovely apron!
ReplyDeleteI vote Minnie
ReplyDeleteIt looks like now I have two apron patterns to try--and I just made an apron, and when I showed it to my husband, he said, "don't you have enough aprons already?"
ReplyDeleteHe just doesn't get it.
I have to add my grandma's name to the list of possibilities: Nola.
Maisy! It's my daughter's nickname but it suits the apron I think.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to your blog and am loving it! Apron's name? Jemima - can't be anything else. Cute, but knows what she's about in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's lovely!
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of my grandma, Mabel, or my aunt, Marlene, so I think those are good names :).
I would suggest Caroline - because my grandmas are Emmaline and Caroline :) And you already have an Emmaline...
ReplyDeleteGotta be a Clara...that's my grandma's name. She just turned 98 this month and I ALWAYS saw her in an apron, spunky, and busy working on something till her health got bad a few years back. (She was still building her own furniture when she was in her eighties)!!
ReplyDeleteHow about Evangeline? I love that name. I also loved the idea of the Amelia Bedelia apron!
ReplyDeleteWhatever you decide it sure is lovely, so creative. I have mt fabric and plan on making up Emmeline this very week. Great patterns.
I was going to suggest Mabel but I see that's already there. So instead I suggest Juliette :)
ReplyDeleteAt the risk of having another "E" apron, I vote for Eliza
ReplyDeleteAnnie or AnnaBelle. Very cute apron!
ReplyDeleteHow about Anna Grace?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking Irene or Glynna maybe even Thelma. I think Thelma fits more.
ReplyDeleteThe Betty
ReplyDeleteI don't have time to read them all so hopefully this hasn't been suggested already.
ReplyDelete"Claire"
Or maybe my name. LOL. Rebecca!
Rebecca F.
rebeccamferguson@yahoo.ca
That's so June Cleaver, it practically screams it. But June is so unoriginal. Same with Lucy and Ethel ... What about Mae???
ReplyDeleteMy favorite name is Tula, but what about Nona? I think it actually means grandmother...and it's beautiful. I love the flattering shape of the "?" apron.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I vote for Victoria or Margaret.
ReplyDeleteIt totally reminds me of an apron that my grandmother used to wear. I know Ella has been suggested but in honour of my lovely (and tough as nails) grandmother, I must second that notion.
ReplyDeleteAs a second option, I'd add Paula to the list of possibilities. My mom is a fabulous cook & baker and that's her name!
OH! My gosh!! I love this apron!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I look at it, I think of "Ellen" or even "Elaine". But there is one other name that comes to mind: Lucy/Lucielle. (And no, I wasn't thinking of Lucielle on the "I love Lucy" show.
I am soooo going to make one of these.
Hurry and get the pattern out!! Some of use can't stand the drooling to much longer! lol
EllieMae, SalliMae, EmmaJean are some of my thoughts. :) Love the ladybugs!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say Tessa or Madeline. But I also like these that have already been mentioned: Lucy/Lucille, Mabel, Clementine, Amelia or Amelia Bedelia, Maisy and June Bug or Ladybird.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! All the little special touches make it so ... special! And fun.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is "The Francine" - My grandma's name was Mary Frances, and I always loved that name. This apron seems like a snappier side of my grandma (like what she would *really* want to wear, but might think it was a teeny bit flamboyant) So, to me, Francine seems like a fun alter-ego of her - I could see her in her 50s kitchen with aqua carpet and white tile whipping up something wonderful in this little ditty.
So fun! Your work is amazing!
I'm going with Elsie, my great-grandmother. Elsie, or Mamo, and we called her was the most wonderful woman I have ever known. She could cook, decorate a cake, knit, sew, crochet and SO much more. She just epitomizes this apron to me.
ReplyDeleteI have it, I really have it. My youngest daughter's name is:
ReplyDeleteAdelaide
and we call her:
Adelaidybug
Once I spotted the sweet little ladybug details I knew that it was perfect :)
That and, thanks to her older sister:
Josephine
she's already got a lovely collection of aprons. Some vintage, some new, but all very handy for the Montessori-inspired activities our interest in your blog has brought into our days off of school.
Plus, I have some fabric (and turquoise ball fringe) that my husband picked out for me for Christmas...specifically to become an apron. I need a pattern :)
Thanks!
I should note that Josephine actually goes by:
ReplyDeleteJosie
which always makes me think of tiny bouquets of flowers. So musical and old fashoined!
Very cute. Helen sounds like a nice 50's style name.
ReplyDeleteBut I'll have to say Eleanor, also, because that's what I want to name my little girl, if I ever have one. (Got 3 boys.)
Personally, I think it evokes a more retro than old-fashioned name. I thought "Jennifer" and "Katie" when I saw it! But for old-fashioned names, my favorite belongs to the beloved grandmother of one of my dear friends, "Eloise".
ReplyDeleteGood luck! There are some great names listed!!
This is such a sweet Apron!
ReplyDeleteI am still planning to purchase Emmeline, but now I'm gonna want this one too!
Just lovely! Oh also--I didn't get to comment on this, but I love your bird nest project with the yarn--we are gonna have to do that this year!
As for names.....
Adelaide is an old name that I've always loved.
Also I do like Clementine (it's one of my daughter's names).
And I'll also throw Myrtle out there since that's my Grandma's name.
She reminds me of a Pollyanna - all sunny and cheerful!
ReplyDeletehow about Alice? There is a little something of Alice in Wonderland about it? Don't you think??
ReplyDeleteThe first name I thought of was Alice (which someone else already mentioned too)!
ReplyDeleteI just got the Emmeline in the mail a couple of weeks ago and I can't wait to try it once my sewing machine comes back from the repair shop!
ReplyDeleteThis one is very cute too! I thought of Mama June, or GladyBelle, or maybe Viola. Whatever you call it, it will be darling!
My first thought was "Dolores," but it reminded me too much of an ex-boyfriend's mother. The other ones I thought of were "Doris" and "Alice."
ReplyDeleteLovely apron - and practical too!
ReplyDeleteI think the name "Valerie" would suit both you and the apron quite nicely.
Hopefully no one has said this yet, but I think she looks like a Cindy Lou. She's full of charm and grace. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, another beauty! When I think of older names I immediately think of my grandmother as well. Her name is Katherine Marcella. So I would like to suggest 'Marcella'. It has a nice vintage flair.
ReplyDeleteDare I leave one of may favorite names? Imogene. The perfect name for the sister of Emmaline in my opinion ;)
ReplyDeleteOK - I realize I've left one comment already, so feel free to delete or disregard this one (can't remember if that was a rule ...) but I just realized that my husband's grandmother's middle name is a great one: Noveline. I love that name!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving reading all these great names!
it reminds me of something the Shirley Jones' character from Carousel--Julie Jordan--would wear!
ReplyDeleteI think it is a Julie Jordan apron!
My suggestion is Clarabelle. Such a beautiful pattern!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was Betty. Both my maternal and paternal grandmas were Betty's - Betty Jean and Betty Jane - how cool is that?
ReplyDeleteI also thought this so looks like a Ramona.
I say "ruby"
ReplyDelete~simply~
Just one look at this apron and a Buddy Holly song just jumped in my head -- Peggy Sue.
ReplyDeleteI am going to vote for "Beatrice" (my Grandmother's name). This apron is gorgeous and so was my Grandma.
ReplyDeleteI'm going with The Betty Apron. Love it by the way!!
ReplyDeletePhronsie--like from the 5 Little Peppers. It just looks sweet like she is.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSomething with an M is really striking me for this one...Maggie? Mable? Mildred?
ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait for another apron pattern to try! I have one Emmeline completed and two more cut out and ready to begin stitching. LOVE it. I showed off my (your!) Emmeline on my blog under the title "New Wardrobe." I'll have to upload photos to the flickr group, too.
Brilliant, Meg. You are so talented!
How about Concetta or Corrina?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a sunny Italian apron to me ;)
Carole
I started to read through the comments, so I wouldn't leave a duplicate; but wow there are so many. She looks like a HANNAH to me. Just popped into my head.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your wonderful patterns!
Okay, it's hard being the 116th comment...
ReplyDeleteI vote for katielacy and Amanda's idea of Adelaide. And Valerie's suggestion of Mabel. I was going to suggest Marguerite - the bright colors and fresh style remind me of a Marigold, but then I saw Adrienne already suggested it!
So I'm suggesting Alma. I didn't see that one. It's my grandmother's name. We were very close, and when she passed away I inherited about 14 vintage aprons from her. Many, if not all, were hand-made.
Alma
(plus it is also a Latina name, so it could be a tribute to your time in Mexico. But then, of course, Marguerite could be as well....)
I would suggest Poulain. It's a "nom de famille" and a chocolate drink and I know you like it! (Maybe someone picked it already?).
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mama Poulain is better?
Wow. There are many who have come before me, but I don't think my favorite is in there, yet.
ReplyDeleteI know two beautiful and elegant elderly sisters whose names are Emma and Rosie.
I pick Rosemary (or Rose Marie). So old fashioned and pretty.
After reading all the names my daughter says you should name the new pattern "Fanny". I love it!
ReplyDeleteI vote for Cecelia, the patron saint of singers. And who wouldn't sing through their chores while wearing that apron!?!
ReplyDeleteHow about Beulah? After a dear elderly neighbor we had. One meaning of Beulah is "bride" and don't all brides need a great apron?
ReplyDeleteI like Lydia or Mavis after my grandma. Or even Louise.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Samantha or Mercy.
Bernice....
ReplyDeleteThis was my grandmothers name and she wore aprons every day.....
So lovely! How about Floraline to go with Emmeline?
ReplyDeleteI love Clementine too, and since a lot of comments are about Grandmother names, I'll contribute my Spanish Grandmother's name... Mercedes and her mother's name...Carmen.
ReplyDeleteI love the apron(s) btw.
How about Josephine? We named our daughter Josephine after the character from Little Women (one of my all-time favorite books) and my husband's grandmother.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cue apron! My first name would have been EmmaGrace but the last one was Emmaline. Bessie is an older name, that was my grandmothers name. The Bessie, sounds good to me. I love your work.
ReplyDeletePenelope's Pinafore
ReplyDeleteEthel (I don't think it's overused at all!)
ReplyDeleteEvangeline
Gertie
Very cute apron, if you're looking for a person name what about Amelia. When I first saw it I thought of frilly fifties.
ReplyDeleteWow! I don't know how your going to pick, but I want to add guess!
ReplyDeleteMy apron-wearing Mom is Dorothy-Anne (Though she wasn't keen on Dottie-Anne LOL),
and my MIL's name is Annalise, another fine apron wearing woman!
I'm going to suggest my sweet daughter's name - Martilee. I bet no one else submits that one! It was my grandmother's middle name - Betty Martilee.
ReplyDeleteDebi Ann (together of course, it's just one guess, LOL). Good luck choosing a name. It's adorable!
ReplyDeleteMy 3 y/o Name is
ReplyDeleteRuby-Anne,
such an apron wearing little girl with an aprony kind of name.
My other suggestion is
Molly..
Mary-lou... Gorgeous apron!
ReplyDeleteThe moment I looked at the apron and saw it needed a name, BETTY came into my mind immediately...then JUNE and LUCY followed closely...alas all taken. So I offer my name, Margaret, but a shortened, more intimate and familiar version...MAGGIE.
ReplyDeleteI love the ladybugs on this apron! and the pattern is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love the name Evangeline.......I also love the movie Nanny McFee and I thought the actress that portrayed Evangeline would be beautiful in this apron. If you don't want another 'E' name then...
The other name that strikes me is the nick name my dad gave my mom....they both are outrageously good cooks. He calls her Lindy....good memories in the kitchen....
I'm thinking of "Hot Summer's Work" when I see these colors.
ReplyDeleteAnd wearing only the apron to do it.
I can't believe I just read through all these comments!! I would like to suggest Mary Pauline or just Pauline in honor of my great-grandmother--she was as crafty as they come--sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, embroidery, you name it. She was phenomenal. She lived to be 91.
ReplyDeleteWell, I love the apron and thought it looked a bit "prissy"... so how about Priscilla?
ReplyDeleteuh, i don't have time to read all the suggestions, so these may be repeats: Hazel, Phyllis, Mabel.
ReplyDeleteit is really cute, meg!
I saw it and immediately thought, Betty - but I see many others have had that same thought.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Amelia? Eva? Lucia?
How about Esme?
ReplyDelete-Delilah
Haven't read all of the comments...but after watching Hairspray last week...I have to call it the Penny Pinny after Penny Pinkerton.
ReplyDeleteI saw there was suggestion of Louise, but I love Louisa. Old fashioned and feminine. My second choice would be Abigail.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion my mom's Aunt's had the BEST names: Audrey, Agnes and Lydia! No one in my family would agree but then again they don't use computers so they won't be piping up anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteAudrey would be my favourite for this apron.
Elsie. :>
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely by the way.
I looked up the most popular names in the 20s and 30's because those would be the names of the moms of the 50's. The ones I like the best are Frances and Margaret.
ReplyDeleteIts just the lovliest apron!
I didn't really have time to read through all the comments (149 so far!), so i am not sure if someone already suggested this or not, but I vote for Eliza Jane.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Ellen would be a perfect name! Hee hee.
ReplyDeleteBut I also think Caroline would be beautiful. And hey, it rhymes with Emmeline!
How funny, I was just thinking of Audrey as well. Better make mine Tabitha.
ReplyDeletehow about...
ReplyDeleteDaphney, Dabbs or Dagny?
Such a cute apron!
I don't have time to read all the other entries to see if any of these have already been suggested.
ReplyDeleteI think Beatrice or Beatrix would be great names.
Or how about Delores or Felicity?
Agnes is a good one too (my great-grandmother's name).
I also have a great older woman friend named Ulamae, which I think is just the sweetest, but hard to spell. :)
Can't wait to read what you decide.
I would call it "Emily Rose," because it has some playfully sweet details. It's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt makes me think of my grandmother - Hilda so that is one choice, and my other two would be Stella or Clara (my daughter who loves ladybugs) :o)
ReplyDeleteGreat apron and beautiful photos of it.
Leah
We add Miss to all the older ladies names at our church- which I absolutely love!
ReplyDeleteThis apron looks like
... Miss Betty
to me!
I suggest Madison or Lois.
ReplyDeleteConstance? It's another very cute apron, regardless of the name!
ReplyDeletePeggy is the only name for that apron!
ReplyDeletethis apron is fabulous!
ReplyDeletehow about pomona - goddess of the orchards?
What a fantastic apron! I love the style. My suggestions for its name are: Lucille, Alana Rose, Peggy Anne (with or without the e of course) or Eileen. Good luck with your selection.
ReplyDeletehow about the names of our grandmothers such as Hazel, Mavis, Ester, lucille or Esmy??
ReplyDeletegorgeous apron cant wait to get my hands on the pattern.
luv Abby
I like the name Lydia. My great aunt's name but I never met her.
ReplyDeleteLilly Beth... that is the name that comes to mind. It is a beautiful apron by the way.
ReplyDeletegina
Lovely apron!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking either
Dorothy or Dolly
or
Doris
I think Tisha or Edna would be a nice choice!
ReplyDeleteDonita
Oh she's so cute! A really cute apron!
ReplyDeleteI see two of my grandmothers names are mentioned besides my own middle name which was one of my grandmothers. I don't know how many names we can write down? So
I'll write down several. I haven't went through the whole list. So I don't know if any of these were mentioned already.
Chloe, Cordellia, Amelia, Gracie, Lotty, Gertie, Adelle, Adeline, Phoebe, Sophia and Dora which was one of my Great-Grandmother's name and a Great Aunt.
Have a Blessed Happy Fun
Creative Heatlhy Year!!!
What about Imogen.
ReplyDeleteBut I thought about Betty, or rather Betty Cakes, too.
I like Constance, too.
It's sooo cute! Carolanne is my vote, or Opal :)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Blanche, because it was our great grandmother's name (but it also is a cooking term)
ReplyDeleteThis immediately reminded me of the old Disney movie Pollyanna, so that is my suggestion.
ReplyDeleteSince Clementine is taken, I vote Cleo!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, btw!
Love the apron!! I need to make myself a new apron. I was rushing out this morning when I realized I was still wearing my apron. And well, lets just say it was no where as cute as yours!!
ReplyDeleteHow about AnnaBeth in honor of the newest addition to our family.
how about Prissy Priscilla cause you have to admit she is just a touch prissier than Emmaline!
ReplyDeleteWow! Such great suggestions!
ReplyDeleteI didn't read all these great posts, but I was going to say Betsy... lots of people have said that name too. I also love Penelope.
Another one I don't think I have seen is Lottie.
I can hardly wait to make this!!!
The Evelyn or
ReplyDeleteThe Clara (after my 2 girls)
How many votes do we get?
I would also choose Josephine. It goes nicely with its sister Emmaline :)
I'll put in the basket my grandmother's names:
ReplyDeleteTilly
Hattie
Adelaide
I love the pockets!
Call it MARIA... an apron for all around the world women... or Zélia (ME) hahahha
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Ethel Mae. That's what I call my daughter . ( her real name is Bethany) Remember that song "Ethel the streaker"? Well, when she was little she hated to wear clothes ,and I started calling her Ethel, and then it kind of evolved to Ethel Mae over the years. She's 15 now and she answers to it ,but definitely not in public! Jenifer
ReplyDeleteThat is soo cute! I was going to suggest Ruthie, but I think this look much flirtier than that (Sorry Gramma!) so I'm thinking Tammy!
ReplyDeleteCute apron! I love Lucy. :)
ReplyDeleteSunshine and Lollipops
ReplyDeleteSince I always made aprons for my mother who wore them to make her exquisite pie crusts and biscuits, I have to suggest her name, Mary Lou. She was also known for her ladybug collections!
ReplyDeleteI'd call it "Aunt Jessie's apron" because it reminds me of my great aunt, who did her sewing on an old Singer Treadle sewing machine (when everyone else was using theirs to decorate). I have and treasure several of her old aprons.
ReplyDeleteI also think either of my grandmother's names would suit this:
ReplyDeleteCora
Ida Jane
Apron-wearers all!
Very nice apron. My suggestion for a name would be 'Claire'.
ReplyDeleteHow about Millicent?
ReplyDeleteWow - there are so many posts here I actually just did a search to make sure no-one had already suggested my favourite name :
ReplyDeleteAmity (a very old-fashioned name that means 'friendship').
Looks like you'll have lots of good ideas here anyway, and I can't wait until this pattern is available (already have the Emmeline - just waiting on my fabric to arrive now :))
Caroline... I have an affinity for that name!!! I might use that for the apron I just sewed for her!
ReplyDeleteYours is totally adorable!!
It´s a lovely apron! What about Georgette? Daisy,Mabel,Maybeline or Clarissa? Actually, it remembered me, somehow, Pipi Longstockings, from Astrid Lindgren, which I love, so she could be Astrid!!
ReplyDeletehugs from Brazil
Gosh, I can't leave here without giving you a name! My pick would be Ivy Belle...my great-grandmother's name. Always thought if I ever had a girl, this would have to be her name, too!
ReplyDeleteStunning apron! I just got my Emmeline, and can't wait to whip one up!
How about?
ReplyDeleteThe Nora apron--named for a lovely woman from the mtns of NC who was a second grandmother to me and my sister. She made us sweet popovers nearly every Saturday for years. She'd have loved something like this.
Meg, it's just lovely! How about Calliope?
ReplyDeleteI've been wearing my Emmeline apron almost continuously since I finished it, but now I CANNOT WAIT to try your new pattern! I love it! For some reason, "Julia" comes to mind when I look at it. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteI like Diane or Madalyn
ReplyDeleteLove your patterns!
I'm not sure if any of these have been mentioned, but what about:
ReplyDeleteAudrey (Audrey Hepburn is my FAVORITE actress)
Charlotte (my Nana's name)
or
Carlie May (my hubby's grandmother's name)
I love this pattern...no matter what you name it, it is still AMAZING!!!
